Report a Scammer

How social media account scams work — vanishing sellers, account reclaims through recovery email, faked analytics — how to protect yourself, and how to report one.

Not every deal goes through a broker, and private sales are where most people get taken. If it has happened to you, tell us — and if it has not happened yet, this page is how to keep it that way.

How these scams actually work

  • The seller takes the money and disappears. The oldest one. No escrow, no recourse.
  • The buyer takes the account and does not pay. The same trick, reversed.
  • The reclaim. The account transfers, you pay, and two weeks later it is gone — recovered through a recovery email or phone number that never left the seller’s control. This is the most common and the most expensive, because it looks like a clean deal right up until it isn’t.
  • Fabricated statistics. Screenshots are trivial to edit. Insight figures have to be read from the native analytics, live, by someone who knows what they are looking at.
  • Impersonation. Someone claiming to represent us, or to be acting through us, in order to borrow our reputation. We will never contact you first asking for funds, credentials or account access.
  • Chargeback abuse. The buyer pays, receives the property, then reverses the payment.

How to protect yourself in a private deal

  • Never go first. Not with the money, not with the credentials. If somebody insists you do, that is the whole scam.
  • Use escrow — ours or anyone’s. The cost is a fraction of what you are risking.
  • Verify at source. Insist on seeing native analytics live, not screenshots.
  • Change every recovery channel the moment a transfer completes: recovery email, recovery phone, two-factor, connected apps, authorised sessions.
  • Do not list publicly. It gets accounts deleted and it attracts exactly the people you do not want.

Report it

Tell us who, where and what happened. It helps us keep them out of our network, and if the name has come up before we will tell you. We cannot recover funds for a deal we did not broker — nobody can honestly promise that — but we can keep the next person from walking into it.

If someone has impersonated us, tell us immediately and include anything they sent you.

Do it safely instead

Every deal we broker runs through escrow, with a supervised handover that moves the recovery channels too. Neither side is ever asked to go first on trust.
